California's commitment to environmental protection is undeniable. In mid-September, the state launched a legal complaint against five major oil companies, and it has recently enacted

a groundbreaking law mandating that large corporations operating within its borders disclose their carbon emissions.

During his address at the United Nations (UN) Climate Ambition summit in New York on September 20, California Governor Gavin Newsom received enthusiastic applause. Speaking to a dedicated audience, Governor Newsom emphasized that the climate crisis primarily stems from the actions of fossil fuel industries. He sharply criticized oil companies for their deceptive practices and their refusal to acknowledge their role in climate disruption.

Notably, Governor Newsom was the sole American representative invited to speak at this summit, which aimed to highlight tangible accomplishments rather than mere aspirations and commitments. Before his visit to New York, Newsom, who is openly considering a presidential run in 2028 (or even 2024 in the event of Joe Biden's non-reappointment), made sure to present himself as the leader of a state at the forefront of the transition to clean energy.
