Boston University (BU) has announced the opening of a new resource center for LGBTQ+ students. The center, called the LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center, will provide a place for students

to access workshops, events, alumni mentorship programs, and more, as well as serving as a community hub.

According to a university news release, the center will also offer training for BU faculty and staff who choose to participate. Jason Campbell-Foster, interim associate provost and dean of students, explained that the center will serve as a place for students to "explore queer ancestry, engage deeply with one another to find a sense of community, workshop opportunities to make society more inclusive at present, and build the scaffolding to improve the future."

The establishment of the center comes after years of advocacy from students, and was one of the key recommendations in a report by the BU LGBTQIA+ Student Taskforce. Jean Morrison, provost and chief academic officer, stated that the resource center is an important step towards creating a more inclusive and welcoming BU for LGBTQIA+ students.
