In a recent opinion poll conducted by Echelon Insights, it has been revealed that Donald Trump is currently leading Joe Biden in crucial swing states ahead of the 2024 presidential election.

The survey, which interviewed 1,020 voters, found that 48 percent of swing state voters would back the 77-year-old real estate mogul in the upcoming election, while only 41 percent would support Biden.

Adding an interesting twist to the race is Cornel West, a left-wing academic who has declared his intention to run for the White House. According to the same survey, West is currently garnering 3 percent of the vote, potentially drawing away Democrat votes from the incumbent president. West's platform focuses on ensuring good wages and education for all, as well as combating poverty across America.

The emergence of third-party candidates has historically posed a challenge in U.S. presidential elections. Notably, in 2016, the Green Party's leader, Jill Stein, ran against Hillary Clinton, potentially affecting the outcome of the race.

These poll results come at a time when doubts have been raised about Biden's fitness for office due to a series of high-profile slip-ups. The 80-year-old president has faced criticism for making unusual remarks, such as a bizarre attack on NATO ally Britain during a recent visit to Ireland, and a speech on gun control that concluded with the phrase "God save the Queen, man" months after the death of the British monarch.

It is worth noting that Trump lost key swing states to Biden in the 2020 election, which ultimately secured victory for the Democrat. These states, including Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, play a crucial role in determining the outcome of presidential elections.

When Americans cast their ballots, they are essentially selecting the number of electoral officials who will participate in the electoral college, which then chooses the head of state based on the instructions of the electorate. The number of electors from each state aligns roughly with its population, and a candidate must secure a majority of electoral votes (270 or more) to win the presidency.

In a nationwide head-to-head poll, Echelon found that Biden is slightly ahead of Trump, with 45 percent support compared to Trump's 44 percent. Additionally, within the Democratic party, 60 percent of likely voters expressed their intention to "definitely" or "probably" support Biden in a presidential primary, while 33 percent indicated they would back a different Democratic candidate, and 7 percent remained undecided.
