Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted an invitation from CNN to debate former President Donald Trump on October 23, offering another face-off between the two
in the final stretch of the campaign.
"Vice President Harris is eager for another opportunity to share the stage with Donald Trump," said Jen O'Malley Dillon, Harris' campaign chair, in a statement. "Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate."
The debate would follow a similar format to the first 2024 presidential debate, held in June between Trump and President Joe Biden. It is scheduled to take place at CNN’s studios in Atlanta.
CNN proposed a setup similar to the June event, with Trump and Harris fielding questions from moderators for 90 minutes without a live audience.
"Both Vice President Harris and former President Trump have been invited to participate in this CNN debate, as we believe the American people would benefit from hearing more from these two candidates," the network said in a statement. "We look forward to responses from both campaigns so voters can further assess their options before making their final decision."
Trump hinted last week that he might consider participating in a third debate, following his September 10 showdown with Harris hosted by ABC in Philadelphia.
