Justin Timberlake was arrested in the Hamptons, New York, for allegedly driving under the influence, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday in Sag Harbor, located at the eastern end of Long Island. The Sag Harbor Police Department stated that an officer observed Timberlake's BMW run a stop sign and swerve out of its lane.
"A traffic stop was initiated by a police officer from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department, and upon investigation, it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition," the police statement read.
The "Cry Me a River" singer was taken into custody, held overnight for a morning arraignment, and released on his own recognizance at 9:30 a.m., police reported.
