Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he was not alerted to any potential threats before the attempted assassination during his rally in Pennsylvania, where an attacker

shot him in the ear.

"Nobody mentioned it, nobody said there was a problem. I would've waited for 15, they could've said let's wait for 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 5 minutes, something. Nobody said," Trump shared in an interview with Fox News.

He expressed his frustration, adding, "I think that was a mistake. How did somebody get on that roof? And why wasn't he reported?"

According to The Washington Post, senior officials at the U.S. Secret Service repeatedly denied requests from Trump's security detail for additional manpower and equipment in the days leading up to the assassination attempt on July 13. The Secret Service, tasked with Trump's protection, reportedly cited resource shortages as the reason for the refusals, the newspaper reported, citing sources familiar with the situation.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi has previously refuted claims that the agency had denied requests for more security resources from Trump's team.

In a statement emailed to Reuters on Sunday, Guglielmi explained: "In some instances where specific Secret Service specialized units or resources were not provided, the agency made modifications to ensure the security of the protectee. This may include utilizing state or local partners to provide specialized functions or otherwise identifying alternatives to reduce public exposure of a protectee."
