Former US Vice President Mike Pence has announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. Pence made this announcement during his appearance at the Republican Jewish Coalition

in Las Vegas on Saturday afternoon.

He stated, "We always knew this would be an uphill battle, but I have no regrets," according to the Associated Press.

Pence's bid for the nomination had not gained the expected traction with Republican voters, particularly in a race where former President Donald Trump is the front-runner. His campaign had accumulated significant debt, with Pence ending September with a debt of $621,000 and having only $1.2 million in his campaign funds - substantially less than his Republican competitors.

The 64-year-old faced a loss of support from many Republican voters after publicly disagreeing with Trump over the events of the 6 January Capitol riot in 2021. He also faced criticism for presiding over the certification of Joe Biden's election results in Congress following the 2020 election.
