As the first Republican presidential debate approaches, President Joe Biden's reelection campaign is gearing up with a strategic TV ad and a surge of influential advocates,

aiming to counter the "extreme and disconnected views" of "MAGA Republicans," whether or not Donald Trump participates.

The campaign has not disclosed the locations for the commercials, the budget allocated, or the content, but confirmed that the ads, constituting its third major ad purchase of the cycle, will have a special focus on Black and Hispanic voters.

Preceding the Wednesday, August 23rd debate, where frontrunner Trump's attendance remains uncertain, Biden's campaign and the Democratic National Committee intend to mobilize their supporters extensively. Attacks on Biden are anticipated, regardless of Trump's participation, with Republicans targeting the president's policies on immigration and the economy. DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison and Cedric Richmond, a campaign co-chair, are scheduled to hold a press conference in Milwaukee. Additionally, a war room operated jointly by the DNC and Biden's campaign will be active in Washington.

Democrats are aiming to leverage the debate, hosted in the pivotal state of Wisconsin, to boost their fundraising and organizational efforts.

The Biden campaign is seizing the opportunity presented by the Republican primary in Milwaukee to adopt a more assertive stance, portraying the GOP opposition as aligned with "extreme" ideologies.

Harrison informed USA TODAY that the Republican debate ushers in a new "phase" in the presidential campaign, characterized by heightened "intensity" from the Democratic Party and Biden's campaign. "Now that the spotlight is on," he noted, "we're ensuring that we perform on this stage, shedding light on the genuine divisions between the two parties and their respective visions."

Biden's reelection campaign has refrained from hosting any events and plans to keep the candidate off the trail until after Labor Day. The emphasis has been on accumulating funds for the general election, while Biden advances his economic agenda through official functions.

Recently, Biden visited Milwaukee to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, his landmark legislation for climate and clean energy. This event aimed to bolster the White House's reputation in light of improving economic metrics.

While Trump's participation in the debate remains uncertain, he indicated that he would reveal his intentions during this week. Trump's commitment to supporting the eventual Republican nominee, as required by the Republican National Committee for debate entry, is also in question. The former president has emphasized his significant lead in Republican primary polls and raised concerns about his participation.
