Florida Governor Ron DeSantis embarked on a four-nation trade mission to Japan, South Korea, Israel, and the United Kingdom to raise his diplomatic profile in what is
perceived to be an attempt to position himself as a potential Republican presidential candidate for the 2024 election.
In Japan, DeSantis met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other officials to discuss regional issues and reinforce Japan-US ties. During the two-day visit, DeSantis is also scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, business executives, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, and British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
