Governor Phil Murphy announced on Friday that police in New Jersey are currently investigating a bomb threat at the American Dream Mall, leading to the evacuation of all shoppers.
Situated within the New Jersey Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, which houses the New York Giants and Jets National Football League teams, the mall drew attention due to the security concern.
In a social media post on the X network, Murphy stated, "The New Jersey State Police is investigating a bomb threat at the American Dream Mall."
For safety measures, Murphy urged, "If you're on site, all customers, tenants, and employees should follow guidance from law enforcement and walk to the nearest exit to safely evacuate the building out of an abundance of caution."
As of the statement, further details regarding the nature of the threat or any additional updates were not provided. Requests for comments from both the police and the mall went unanswered at that time. Photo by Famartin, Wikimedia commons.
