A man was arrested at Boston's Logan Airport for carrying a 10-inch titanium vampire straw in his backpack that he had purchased from a website selling tactical
knives. Arman Achuthan Nair, 26, was detained by TSA officials and booked on a charge of carrying a dangerous weapon.
Nair told authorities that the item could be used as a straw for drinking water or smoothies, or as a tool for self-defense. The company advertising the straw describes it as being "sharp enough to puncture most synthetic materials." Nair is scheduled to be arraigned on May 30.
