Nearly half a million Starbucks mugs are being recalled following reports of injuries sustained by a dozen individuals. Nestlé, the manufacturer, initiated the recall after the U.S. Consumer

Product Safety Commission flagged concerns about the safety of the metallic mugs sold in Starbucks-branded holiday gift sets from 2023. Manufactured in China, these mugs pose risks of overheating or breaking when exposed to microwaves or hot liquids, potentially causing burns or cuts.

Available in various colors and sold at major retailers like Target, Walmart, and military outlets, these mugs were part of gift sets including Starbucks holiday blends, classic hot cocoa, and more. Sold in 11 oz. and 16 oz. sizes, consumers can identify the recalled mugs using the product recall number 24-171.

As of now, there have been 12 reported incidents resulting in 10 injuries, including severe burns and blisters. Consumers are advised to cease using the mugs immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Nestlé USA can also be contacted directly for assistance or further information regarding the recall process. Photo by eBay.com
