Supermodel Gigi Hadid, who was recently arrested and charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the Cayman Islands, has taken to Instagram to share a series of bikini-clad
snapshots from her vacation, accompanied by the caption "All's well that ends well!".
Hadid, 28, and her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy arrived in the Cayman Islands on July 10 via a private jet. During customs inspection, Customs & Border Control agents discovered a small amount of marijuana and smoking utensils in Hadid's luggage after scanning it.
The marijuana was determined to be for personal use only, but both Hadid and McCarthy were arrested on charges of suspicion of importing ganja and importing utensils used for the consumption of ganja. They were subsequently released on bail pending prosecution.
On July 12, the pair appeared in Summary Court and pleaded guilty. They were fined $1,000 each and managed to avoid having a conviction on their records.
While cannabis is illegal in the Cayman Islands, limited usage of CBD oil for medical purposes has been permitted since 2016.
In response to the incident, Hadid's representative stated that she was traveling with marijuana that had been legally purchased in New York City with a medical license. The representative also mentioned that medical use of marijuana has been legal in the Grand Cayman since 2017, emphasizing that Hadid's record remains clear.
Despite the arrest, Hadid hasn't let the situation dampen her vacation spirit, sharing multiple fun-filled bikini snaps on Instagram.
This news comes as Hadid's ex-partner, Zayn Malik, recently broke his silence on his confrontation with Hadid's mother, Yolanda Hadid, which led to him being charged with harassment. Malik pleaded no contest to the charges and addressed the incident as a "family issue" during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Hadid shares a three-year-old daughter named Khai with Malik, and while she refrained from commenting extensively on the matter, she released a statement emphasizing her focus on what is best for their child and requested privacy.
In his podcast interview, Malik discussed co-parenting Khai with Hadid, highlighting the importance of their daughter and expressing satisfaction with their relationship in that regard.
