Why Everyone In The Point Blank Cast Is A Little Familiar

What happens when two Marvel stars appear in a Netflix original movie together? If you’ve been wondering that, you’ll find the answer in the cast of Point Blank, which has Anthony Mackie team up with Frank Grillo in order to fight a crime ring and take down some dirty cops in the process. The new Captain America and Crossbones, working together! Who would have guessed? But these two aren’t the only familiar cast members in Point Blank, as the movie’s got a handful of actors you’ve seen before — and these two are the only ones part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Point Blank, which is a remake of the 2010 French movie of the same name, follows Mackie’s nurse Paul during a very bad day. After an injured patient shows up on his rounds, he finds himself in the crosshairs trying to save him, while racing against the clock to free his pregnant wife who’s been kidnapped. There’s something to be said about the movie, as it’s a tight 90-minute thriller with twists and turns and an extended fight scene in a car wash. So if you’re looking for the perfect hour and a half movie to watch before bed, here are all the familiar faces you’ll find in Point Blan k.

Anthony Mackie Plays Paul

Hello, Captain America. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Mackie’s Sam Wilson is our new Cap, but if he’s going to take up the mantel for his Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, remains to be seen. When he’s not saving the world in the MCU, he also recently appeared in an episode of Black Mirror and is set to play the lead role in Netflix’s Altered Carbon Season 2.

Frank Grillo Plays Abe

Grillo’s now popped up three times in the MCU playing Crossbones, recently appearing in Avengers: Endgame playing himself in 2012 (time travel!). He’s also appeared in The Purge movies along with roles The Shield, Prison Break, and Kingdom.

Marcia Gay Harden Plays Lieutenant Lewis

Harden has been serving fierce looks for three decades now, appearing in classic movies like The First Wives Club, Meet Joe Black, Mona Lisa Smile, and who could forget her role as Grace Trevelyan Grey in the 50 Shades of Grey movies? She’s also appeared in recurring roles on Damages, The Newsroom, and How To Get Away With Murder.

Teyonah Parris Plays Taryn

Parris played the original Coco in the movie Dear White People before the movie was adapted into a show for Netflix (she hasn’t popped up in the series... yet). She also played Don Draper’s secretary Dawn on Mad Men, and recently appeared on Empire. This past year she played Ernestine in If Beale Street Could Talk

Christian Cooke Plays Mateo

Cooke started out playing Luke Kirkwall in ITV’s Where the Heart Is for over 60 episodes, and then went on to appear in episodes of Doctor Who and Witches of East End. He also replaced Ed Westwick in Ordeal by Innocence. He’s also directed and produced a few short films, and because this is very important, his first cousin is Mel B from The Spice Girls.

Boris McGiver Plays Masterson

McGiver is no stranger to Netflix, as he played Tom Hammerschmidt on House of Cards throughout the series before meeting a sad and untimely end. He’s also appeared on Boardwalk Empire, and Person of Interest, and played one of Jack Donaghy’s brothers on 30 Rock. In 2012 he also played Alexander Hamilton Coffroth in Lincoln.

Markice Moore Plays Big D

Moore’s been a Tyler Perry stable for a while now, appearing on both Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns and Tyler Perry's The Paynes. He starred on FX’s Snowfall and played Andrew on The Walking Dead in 2012.
